Graubünden as a traditional transit and passing country attracted writers and artists early on - and captivated those who stayed a little longer. On their journey to Italy, many crossed the east-west and north-south mountain passes of Graubünden. The Viamala and Roffla gorges, the Splügen Pass and the "Maloja-Chiavenna Drift" are honored in numerous travel reports.
With the advent of the tourist industry, other places and valleys found expression in the works of poets and thinkers. Including famous names such as Friedrich Nietzsche and Conrad Ferdinand Meyer. Later, the lung spas of Arosa and Davos made it into world literature. Thomas Mann's Magic Mountain is certainly the best known here.
But not only passing through visitors, guests and patients, but also local authors have produced an impressive number of works in the trilingual canton. This rich treasure of German, Romansh and Italian literature from and about Graubünden is the starting point for 30 literary walks in the 'Land of 150 valleys'.
On the one hand, the literary reading of traces encourages you to reread or discover known and unknown literary works, and on the other hand, to gain insight into the culture and landscape of present-day Graubünden while walking.
