The Jakobusweg, which runs between Tillyschanz and Rothenburg ob der Tauber, starts at the border with the Czech Republic in Tillyschanz. It runs through the Upper Palatinate Forest, located between the Bavarian Forest and the Fichtel Mountains, and offers lonely hiking trails through endless forests, through picturesque river valleys and past wide meadows and small lakes. Famous monasteries, romantic castles and medieval towns await pilgrims, as do numerous St. James' churches along the way.
The Franconian Alb with its winding paths and its lakes are just as impressive as the central Franconian metropolis of Nuremberg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber with its half-timbered houses.
