In 71 walking days we experience all the diversity of this mountain area: the rugged cliffs on the Atlantic Ocean, small Basque villages in the middle of green rolling hills, karst-like mountain areas, mountain lakes in every conceivable shade, old spa towns on both sides of the border, surrounded by three thousand meter high mountain peaks through glaciers and the soft beaches of the Mediterranean. The Basques in the west and the Catalans in the east have been fighting for more autonomy and self-determination for centuries.
