From Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean 2: Briançon-Nice
In the second part, the Geneva-Nice long-distance walk takes you from Briançon through the barren, atmospheric landscapes of the Queyras, the Ubaye and the Haute Provence to the Mediterranean Sea. Past old Waldensian villages, over high mountain passes, through unspoilt rock valleys and over mountain ranges with beautiful views, the book leads hikers to the Côte d'Azur scented with Provencal scents. Lonely high mountain landscapes with peaks over 3000 meters high, small lakes, bubbling streams and rich flora contrast with the bustling medieval towns of Haute Provence.
The Briançon-Nice route is divided into six stages of two to four days. Each day stage has overnight accommodation options - often a simple mountain hut, sometimes a small hotel. One variant runs through the Mercantour Park and the Vallée des Merveilles to Menton.
In addition, the book provides a lot of background information about the geography, history and culture of Provence.
