Central Greece - Road and Touring Atlas 1:50,000

Road atlas of Attica, the region around Athens, and Central Greece from Anavasi, in an A4 paperback format, with contoured maps at 1:50,000, a 2km UTM grid for GPS users, very detailed road layout, hiking trails, and place names in both Greek and Latin alphabet.

The main body of the atlas contains 219 pages of detailed maps with contours at 100 m intervals, elevation coloring and relief shading to give a vivid representation of the terrain. Almost all names: towns and villages, geographical features, etc., are given in both Greek and Latin alphabets, with only a few small local churches mentioned only in Greek. The names of most archaeological sites and many other interesting places are given in Greek and English.

The road classification has 10 different degrees, from toll roads to small dirt roads in poor condition and 4WD tracks. Intermediate driving distances are shown on main roads and secondary roads. The maps also indicate the locations of gas stations (with oil company names) and tire repair facilities.

Local footpaths are also marked, with the E4 trans-European long-distance path and route 022 marked. A wide range of symbols indicate the locations of various points of interest, including accommodation (hotels, campsites, summer camps, mountain huts), archaeological sites, churches and monasteries, beaches, caves, viewpoints, etc.

The maps have a 2 km UTM grid and 1' latitude/longitude markers. The map legend is in English. Two indexes, one for each alphabet, contain separate sections listing archaeological sites and religious monuments.

The atlas also has a 16-page section showing the same area at 1:250,000 for more general route planning. There are also two tables with the driving distances and driving times between more than 60 places.
