Gotland's long, eventful history is closely linked to Northern Germany through the Hanseatic League. Since 1995, the capital Visby has been a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the almost 100 churches on the island are unique in the north.

Gotland is an island for nature lovers: secluded beaches, steep cliffs, blooming meadows, rare orchids and varied bird life. Gotland is ideal as a family destination and - according to statistics - the sunniest place in the north. It is not without reason that the island is called the "Sunshine Island of Sweden".

Gotland, unknown from abroad, has developed into a festival and celebration island in July/August. This is where young Swedes come to party, listen to music or just relax.
