Traum Alp - Älplerinnen im Porträt

Every year at the end of May or beginning of June, when the alpine pastures open, many urban and rural residents, especially women, flock to the alpine pastures to spend the summer herding goats, cows, cattle, horses, sheep or, more recently, llamas, and to make cheese. A decision for a life in the wild without the usual luxury, which is sometimes accompanied by elation, sometimes by loneliness, but always with much and exhausting work.
Daniela Schwegler visited female Alpine shepherds of all kinds on the Alp. The fifteen women, aged between 20 and 75, talk about how they experience and experience the Alpine summer and enjoy nature, the animals, the sun and the blue sky. The book provides insight into the dream of the Alp, which can quickly turn into a nightmare for some of the blue-eyed. Impressive reportage photos by Vanessa Püntener paint a picture of the alpine women and their daily work. Each portrait is rounded off with an attractive hiking suggestion from the Alp and an Alpine milkmaid recipe.
