Montenegro - that is the small country on the Adriatic coast, between Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo and Albania, with only about 600,000 inhabitants. On one side lies the deep blue sea, on the other side the Dinar Mountains with the Durmitor and Prokletije massifs, and in between the beautiful Bay of Kotor, which extends inland like a fjord. However small Montenegro is, it has a wealth of natural beauty that invites you to swim along the coastline and offers ideal conditions for hiking and mountain biking in the hinterland with high mountains, many lakes and dark forests.

Author Matthias Koeffler has been traveling through the region for many years and has fallen in love with the countries of the former Yugoslavia and their inhabitants.
