The Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a holiday and swimming paradise of great appeal and a unique nature reserve. The coastline measures more than 1000 kilometers and is a feast for the eyes with traditional Hanseatic towns, charming seaside resorts and idyllic fishing villages. The beaches of Rügen, Usedom and the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula offer relaxation for young and old, the historic Hanseatic cities of Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund and Greifswald boast beautifully decorated merchant and patrician houses, and the small, cozy fishing villages on the Bodden Coast there are thatched cottages and captain's houses around medieval village churches.
