The "Old Vie delle Dolomiti" are among the most spectacular mountain trails in the Alps. Constantly changing landscapes, enormous high mountains and impressive views provide an exciting experience every day. Highways 1 to 3 mainly run on easy, but sometimes challenging climbs. They cross the Dolomites from north to south in 10 to 15 daily stages. The Rother Walking »Dolomites high trails 1-3" describes all stages and different variants of this distance hiking trails and is a summary of all necessary information to perform.
Each trail is shown in sections from hut to hut, so that the length of the daily stages can be planned individually. The directions are precise, the map details in detail. In addition, the walking times, the height differences that must be handled, the telephone numbers of the cabins and the bus or train connections are stated. The lush illustration with photos by author and Dolomite expert Franz Hauleitner gives a first impression of the tours.
The 150 kilometer long course No. 1 is the classic. It leads from Lake Braies to Belluno, passing through, among others, the Sesto Dolomites and the Pelmo, Civetta and Schiara mountain ranges. Trail no. 2 runs 185 kilometers from Bressanone through the Sella, Marmolada and Pala groups to Feltre. Trail No. 3 is 120 kilometers long and leads from the Pustertal through the eastern Dolomites to Longarone in the Piavetal.
In total there are ten Dolomite mountain trails with different character and difficulty. They are presented in the Rother hiking guides "Dolomite-Höhenwege 4-7" and "Dolomite-Höhenwege 8-10". Anyone who does everything has visited all the mountain groups of the Dolomites.
