Typical volcanic lakes, waterfalls, caves and old mines alternate with beautiful river valleys and village landscapes of the Monschau Heckenland. Much nature and culture are offered to the hiker in the historic Eifel: medieval towns, castles and ruins, monasteries and churches invite you to valuable discovery tours. The Roman aqueduct leading to Cologne or the medieval Tiergarten tunnel in Blankenheim bear witness to ancient engineering masterpieces. Author Jürgen Plogmann, expert on the German low mountain range, also gives many tips about the many traditional restaurants, which serve typical food delicacies along the Eifelsteig.
