The Eifel is one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Germany. People interested in culture will find interesting castles, churches and traces of Roman times everywhere. The landscape is varied and the climate ideal for walkers.
The Eifel is beautiful in every season: in spring, daffodils in some valleys look like yellow carpets, in summer the Eifelgold (broom) forms a perfect contrast with the lush green of the forests. In autumn the foliage shines in all colors everywhere, and the Ahr Valley even attracts hikers with its vineyards. The book also takes into account that the Eifel has its own special charm in winter: some tours are also well suited for winter hikers.
With her guide, the author addresses all hikers who want to spend a day or a weekend in the north of the Eifel. A good mix of tours of different lengths and levels of difficulty leads to all sub-regions of the North Rhine-Westphalia Eifel and across the border to the Belgian Eifel. A second part to the southern part of the Eifel is already underway.
Many of the walks described show small sections of long-distance footpaths or pilgrimage routes. They ensure that you want a complete walking holiday in the Eifel. Short, barrier-free walks that can easily be completed with a buggy are included, as well as day walks. All described walks were also tested by the author together with her two Newfoundland dogs for fitness.
