The King Ludwigspad is dedicated to the memory of the Bavarian King Ludwig II. The myth surrounding the "fairy tale king" continues to this day. Within a week, the King's Path leads through one of the most beautiful landscapes in Bavaria or in the whole of Germany, over rolling hills and past clear swimming lakes. With repeated views of the high mountains of the Allgäu Alps, you will walk approximately 130 km in the footsteps of King Ludwig II. The walk starts at Lake Starnberg, where the fairytale king lost his life. Author Anette Hausmann takes you on a total of 6 hiking stages and to the most beautiful places that the "Kini" liked to visit. Imposing gorges such as the Maisinger Schlucht and the Ammerschlucht and the mystical moorlands of the Pfaffenwinkel are among the hiking highlights. The World Heritage Wieskirche and other famous Baroque and Rococo churches, as well as the monasteries of Andechs, Wessobrunn, Rottenbuch and Steingaden offer special art-historical insights. The route takes you over the Hoher Peißenberg to Füssen, to the tourist attractions, the legendary castles of Hohenschwangau, where Ludwig II spent much of his youth, and his fairytale castle Neuschwanstein.
